Our Fundraising Cause

To date, the Tradesmen have raised over $110,000 for our charity, the House of Mercy!
Â
Given the right community, persons living with HIV/AIDS can continue to have stable housing, long-term wellness, self-sufficiency, and spiritual well-being.
Â
The House of Mercy's mission is to empower people living with HIV/AIDS in their transformation toward a more independent life.Â
Â
The House of MercyÂ
was established in 1991 by the Sisters of Mercy in response to the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic, providing compassionate care to individuals living with advanced stages of AIDS. While an HIV diagnosis is no longer a death sentence, many people living with HIV/AIDS still face barriers such as housing instability, financial hardship, transportation challenges, and limited access to essential resources needed to stay engaged in care, maintain their health, and live independently. Today, the House of Mercy is a regional leader in providing compassionate housing and supportive services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
Â
At the House of Mercy, each person receives individualized support based on their needs, goals, and circumstances. These services help residents and clients build greater stability, maintain their health, and work toward greater independence. Their program's services include housing assistance, case management, assistance accessing medications and healthcare, transportation, food support, benefits navigation, referrals, and advocacy. Through these services, the House of Mercy helps create the stability people need to focus on their health, well-being, and future.
Â
The House of Mercy operates a residence for its PALM Program, providing a home for our most vulnerable neighbors. The residence provides housing for up to six residents at a time. Each resident is given a private room with a television, bed, fresh linens, and a closet. Rooms may be decorated and arranged to suit individual needs and tastes. A spacious community living room gives residents an opportunity to gather. A dining room accommodates family-style meals, with dinner prepared each weekday. Residents also have access to the open pantry throughout the day. In addition, there is a sunroom/recreational room with a computer, hand weights for exercise, and books. A large gazebo is the centerpiece of the private backyard, and garden beds are maintained by staff, residents, and volunteers.
Â
Residents can stay in the PALM program for up to a year and work with the case management team to find stable housing and connect with the resources they need to transition back into the community. Upon graduating from the PALM Program, residents can continue to receive support through our Positive Connections Program, which works with clients transitioning out of PALM as well as people living in the broader community who are seeking resources to support housing and financial stability. Services include rental and utility assistance, food boxes, case management, referrals, and other supportive services.
Â
The House of Mercy encourages physical activities, social events, and outings that promote connection and community. In addition to staff, volunteers support residents in a variety of ways based on their individual interests, needs, and comfort levels. Additionally, residents who desire spiritual or pastoral support can receive it through on-site support from Sister Carmelita or connections with local churches and community partners. Admission to the PALM Program is based on an individual's housing, health, and financial assistance needs.
